If you are like us, you try to do the right thing. We learned as kids to turn the lights off when we left a room, or to not leave the water running as we brushed our teeth. Pretty common sense stuff right? That was more years ago than we are willing to admit. But even then, there was environmental concern, even if our dads were really more concerned with the electric or water bill.
Earth Day, April 22 this year will mark its 50th Anniversary. Fifty years! According to earthday.org:
“Earth Day was a unified response to an environment in crisis — oil spills, smog, rivers so polluted they literally caught fire.
On April 22, 1970, 20 million Americans — 10% of the U.S. population at the time — took to the streets, college campuses and hundreds of cities to protest environmental ignorance and demand a new way forward for our planet.
The first Earth Day is credited with launching the modern environmental movement, and is now recognized as the planet’s largest civic event.”
Fifty years later and still here we are. Raising the same concerns, but our voices need to be louder, our numbers larger.
“Climate change represents the biggest challenge to the future of humanity and the life-support systems that make our world habitable.” – earthday.org
Greenation.eco also believes climate change is a real issue. Global Warming is real. Science does not lie and instead relies strictly on facts and data. We can't say the same about the motivations of politicians or corporations, can we? And even if you were to think the science IS wrong, is it worth the risk to not just do the right thing for the environment anyway?
We understand there are economics involved. Being eco-conscience or carbon-neutral is not always the cheapest option. We get it. But we also urge everyone to understand we cannot afford to continue to spend our carbon resources forever. We cannot put money ahead of humanity.
